The Olympics are coming here too !

Well the Olympics aren’t actually coming to Springfield House !! but the football is at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry which is only 15 minutes, just over 10 miles from here. So we are very excited that we might get to see some top class football and the players have to stay somewhere don’t they !! Seriously we see the Olympics are something very unique, and are really looking forward to watching some amazing sport.

No sooner have we put the Christmas decorations up, we seem to be taking them back down again. Now we are all thinking about the New Year and getting in shape for the start of the busy season at the NEC, we’ve got Autosport International, the Furniture & Interiors Show, Spring Fair, and the Boat & Caravan Show. It will be March and Crufts again before we blink ! We wish all our past and future guests a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year and hope to see you all again in 2012 – give us call for the best room rates available !

Trip Advisor for Springfield

We have taken the plunge and added ourselves to business listings on Trip Advisor and are really proud of the comments we are starting to get. We’ve even been sent a posh sign to put on the house to say our reviews are well above average ! It’s such a great site to see what real people think of places to stay, the world’s largest travel site and Springfield House has never been so visible ! It has even got some of the restaurants in Coleshill listed as well so guests can have a look at those before they eat out in the town.

John’s a Grandpa

Those of you who have stayed with us before will know, John has daughter who lives in Holland. We are very proud to announce the safe arrival of her first child – Maisie Lies, born a few weeks ago. ‘Pops’ is delighted and proud and we are thoroughly enjoying getting to know her. We popped across to meet her a just after she was born and Rachel is currently over here, so it is our second chance for cuddles ! What better excuse do we need to visit the Baby Show at the NEC (20-22 May), must remember John’s credit card !!!

Well, we have managed to sneak in a quick holiday over the New Year and are now up and running again fully refreshed. We can’t believe where the last year went, however with better weather hopefully 2011 will be kind to us all, however with February still to come who knows. We are already nearly at Spring Fair again, how quickly time goes by, it will be the Boat and Caravan show in February before we have blinked !! We wish all our past guests a very Happy and healthy New Year and hope to see you all again during 2011 !!

Snow gets to Springfield House

Like every one else, we’ve been affected by the snow. Whilst around here has been much less severley affected that other areas, it has certainly made us all wrap up warm. Fortunately for us, it brought in extra guests, some people trying to fly from Birmingham Airport were stranded, unable to get to Scotland and spent a night with us at Springfield House. It proved a much better option than sleeping on a bench in the departures lounge of BHX though ! Thankfully the routes in and out of the airport and NEC were all fine, so at least the show people got around no problem.

As it is John’s Birthday next weekend, we are off to to the Good Food Show for the day and to see a Gordon Ramsay demonstration. Not sure I really want John to develop Gordon’s communication skills in the kitchen each morning, but it should be a good day out. Now I just need to persuade John that I need a day at the Clothes Show in December as well !

Top Gear at the NEC
